Domaine d'Eugenie
Clos Vougeot 2013
Domaine d'Eugenie
Bright medium ruby. Discreet, aristocratic nose hints at black cherry, licorice and violet; really communicates an impression of cold terroir. Densely packed, sweet and thick on the attack, then powerful and rather strict in the middle, with firm acidity giving shape and tension to the dark fruit and bitter chocolate flavors. Finishes vibrant, salty and very long, with the solid tannins hitting the palate late. Inexpressive today but should enjoy a very graceful and long evolution in bottle

Clos Vougeot 2014
Domaine d'Eugenie
Good dark red Cool, youthfully inexpressive nose dominated by black cherry and smoky minerality; the strictest of these 2014s today (Mallard described it as Cistercian) Densely packed and very rich but classically dry, with savory minerality currently holding the upper hand over the Wine's fruit This extremely backward Wine is also showing its new oak element (85%) in the early going, with the firmly tannic finish displaying a note of caramel along with a strong impression of saline dry extract.

Clos Vougeot 2015
Domaine d'Eugenie
Full, dark red. Tight, primary, slightly reduced aromas of blackberry, blueberry, licorice and minerals. Densely packed, rich and broad; a distinctly horizontal, pliant style of Clos Vougeot, no doubt a function of the very warm, sunny vintage.

Domaine Jacques Prieur
Clos Vougeot 2015
Domaine Jacques Prieur
A ripe yet restrained nose somewhat grudgingly offers up its aromas of dark currant, plum, spice and freshly turned earth. There is outstanding size, weight and concentration to the very suave, round and quite generously proportioned big-bodied flavors that culminate in a muscular and well-balanced finish where a touch of the classic youthful austerity appears.

A ripe and very fresh nose offers up notes of maraschino cherry, plum, raspberry, spice and distinct floral wisps. There is excellent concentration to the succulent but quite powerful big-bodied flavors that possess a sleek mouthfeel thanks to the relatively refined tannins shaping the youthfully austere finish that flashes fine depth on the highly persistent finish. I like the balance and this should age effortlessly.

Clos Vougeot Hommage A Jean Morin 2015
Chateau de la Tour
Moderate wood sets off the overtly floral-inflected aromas of herbal tea, earth and liqueur-like black raspberry that are laced with plenty of spice hints. There is superb density to the opulent and lavishly rich broad-shouldered flavors that are focused and extraordinarily powerful and intense, all wrapped in a balanced and immensely persistent finish. What is so impressive about this Wine is how it carries its power and weight so effortlessly and this should age for gracefully for decades though it should actually be approachable after only

Hints of wood and menthol can be found on the even riper nose that is composed by notes of extract of black cherry, dark raspberry, anise, rose petal and a whiff of earth. Once again there is superb mid-palate density to the opulent yet exceptionally serious and imposingly-scaled flavors that are shaped by a firm core of robust tannins on the hugely long yet impeccably well-balanced finish. Unlike the prior two cuvées that could perhaps be enjoyed in their youth, this is expressly built-to-age and is going to need plenty of it. Impressive.

Clos Vougeot Vieilles Vignes 2013
Chateau de la Tour
The fruit is rich and ample in the nose – dense yet some transparency under the quite forward oak. On the palate silky fruit – quite firmly structured by the tannins. It’s a big, vinous and muscular Wine .. weighty yet the acidity seems to do a fine job here .. maintaining the balance and juiciness.
