Domaine Bruno Clavelier
Corton Le Rognet GC 2015
Domaine Bruno Clavelier
Noticeable if not dominant wood frames the overtly sauvage and earthy red and black currant aromas that are trimmed in plenty of spice and floral nuances. The mouth feel of the big-bodied flavors is incredibly rich thanks to the abundance of sappy and tannin-buffering dry extract that coats the palate and imparts a velvety texture, all wrapped in a hugely persistent finish where a touch of bitter cherry pit arises. While the mid-palate of this broad-shouldered effort is seductive, this is very clearly built-to-age and should certainly benefit from extended keeping.

This is reduced to the point of revealing nothing aromatically. Otherwise there is excellent size, weight and mid-palate concentration on the big-bodied and overtly muscular flavors that coat the mouth with dry extract on the very firmly structured finish.

Domaine Ponsot
Corton Les Bressandes 2013
Domaine Ponsot
A brooding and reticent nose only grudgingly reveals aromas of plum, dark currant, game, earth and underbrush hints. There is excellent volume and intensity to the muscular and broad-shouldered flavors that possess fine mid-palate concentration, all wrapped in a powerful, focused, mineral-inflected and moderately austere finish.

Corton Les Bressandes 2014
Domaine Ponsot
A slightly riper nose features notes of black cherry, earth and sauvage characters. I very much like the mouth feel of the sleek middle weight plus flavors that are shaped by finer if even firmer tannins on the impressively complex and persistent finish. This well-balanced effort is a classic Bressandes of refinement but make no mistake the structure makes clear that this is built-to-age and is going to need plenty of it.

Deep cherry red. Dark-red fruit. Deep and rich, full of spicy fruit and long and fresh on the finish. Lively and juicy. Stems can give an impression of underripeness or menthol early on, but round out later.

Doudet Naudin
Domaine Doudet Beaune 1er Cru Clos du Roy 2018
Doudet Naudin
The wine colour is pleasant intense ruby marked by some brown shades. The deep nose shows its personality made of ripped red and black fruits, closed aromas of soil and humus and the traditional game notes. In the mouth, in its youngest life, the wine is strict concentrate and deep. The palate is rich and masculine. Natural tannins are very present (but never desiccating) spices together with the ripe fruits, beautiful and long aftertaste. This is a wine that you have to decant very young or to discover knowledge with patience.

Doudet Naudin
Gevrey Chambertin 2017
Doudet Naudin
A ``robe`` with ruby garnet hues. The aromatic expression is very revealing of the great village of the Côte de Nuits. Animal flavours with a nose slightly marked by the undergrowth; a little wild. This is all done with finesse. It opens quickly on rich melted tannins, a very ripe fruit, spices and a background of liquorice. We don’t feel any aggression in the mouth although it’s powerful. The ripe red and black fruit leaves appear then discrete animal shades.
