Pretty mid-intense purple dress. The intense nose reveals aromas of blackfruit with balsamic, wood, cocoa powder and smoked accents. Juicy mouth, tannic and creamy with a spicy attack, wood spice and a peppery, remarkable final.

This is really dense and structured, yet there’s energy and agility throughout. Full-bodied, yet agile and firm. It’s nicely composed and framed. Shows a lot of texture and precision for the vintage. Some balsamic to the cherry and chocolate flavors.

Chateau Vieux Mazerat
St Emillion Grand Cru 2008
Chateau Vieux Mazerat
The 2008 was singing marvelously when I tasted it. Inky/purple - colored with full body, excellent concentration, and loads of black fruits intermixed with spring flowers, forest floor, crushed rock, and subtle smoke characteristics, it is a dense, rich, opulent, flamboyant effort with a 45-second finish. This is another example of the brilliant Winemaking talents displayed by Jonathan Maltus and his consulting oenologists, Gilles Pauquet and Neil Whyte. The 2008 should drink well for 20+ years.A new acquisition by proprietor Jonathan Maltus, who sold Grand Destieu in order to upgrade to this terroir, this 10 - acre vineyard is planted with 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc. It is situated near several of the premier grand cru classes of St.-Emilion, including both Beausejours and Angelus.

Chateau Laforge
St Emillion Grand Cru 2011
Chateau Laforge
Saturated ruby. High - pitched aromas of black cherry, violet and underbrush. Juicy and intense on the palate; sweet black fruit, mineral and chocolate flavors turn a little austere on the back half. A step up in intensity and sweetness from the Teyssier (also owned by Jonathan Maltus). Finishes with sweet tannins and noteworthy persistence.

Chateau Teyssier
St Emillion Grand Cru 2016
Chateau Teyssier
The 2016 Teyssier has turned out beautifully. Soft, floral and silky, the 2016 Teyssier is a terrific introduction to the vintage. Sweet dark cherry, plum, mocha, espresso and spice are nicely lifted in this suave, supple Saint-Émilion. Bright, floral notes appear on the finish to add perfume and lift. The 2016 is even more impressive than it was from barrel. Even better, it is one of the more modestly priced Saint-Émilions in the market, with a level of production that also makes it relatively easy to source. Once again, Jonathan Maltus and his team have done a fabulous job with their most visible Wine.

Chateau Gracia
St. Emilion 2010

A modern, toasty style, but sleek, with the vanilla bean and espresso notes melding nicely into the core of steeped plum and blackberry fruit. The long finish lets the espresso note weave on, with flashes of tobacco, cocoa and licorice snap as well.

Chateau Peby Faugeres
St. Emilion 2010
Chateau Peby Faugeres
A dense Wine with loads of ripe fruit and new wood on the nose. Full body, with lots of rich, ripe fruit that reminds me of Napa Valley. Yet it's still fresh and delicious. This needs at least seven to eight years to come complete together. Pure Merlot. Drink or hold.
